Here is a 100-Watt Solar Panel Kit ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882260013&cm_re=solar_power-_-82-260-013-_-Product ),
my MAIN QUESTION is, what does it mean to say that this is a 100 watt solar panel?
Does it mean that it can store 100 watts an hour/minute/second in a battery?
Can it store enough power into a battery to power a window A/C which requires 1900/1880 Watts to Condition Air?
Hi, We have a cabin which is approx. 1,000 sq ft with approx. 500 sq ft of workable roof space (according to astrum) The system we could able to get would produce approx. 5-6 kw of energy for our home. Does this estimate sound accurate? I don’t really have an issue because i realize it is just an estimate – But i can’t afford this amount of money for a solar system. Does anyone have information about companies the will lease solar panel systems in Pennsylvania? Or maybe some information on DIY solar panel kits? Actually any information on how a may be able to afford solar power would be very helpful. Thank you in advance!
I have a marketing assignment and thought of a "green kit". You can pick from reusable shopping bags, the water regulators for toilets (etc), incandescent light bulbs, maybe some seeds for planting trees/flowers, baby and cleaning products, info and set up (if interested) for setting up solar power paneling, maybe some recycling bins that break down so you can store them easily (we have to take our recycling to a bin at the end of town….no pick up), notebooks/school supplies made from recycled material…that’s all I thought of so far.
1) would you buy it?
2) would you add anything to the list that you would want to buy?

Thanks all……
Edit: I meant the energy efficient bulbs. The first thing that came to my mind were the other, sorry! Typo!

Ten years ago at my old house I put in a backup power system with 4 panels 12v 45 watts each, fed through a large inverter for backup power. At that time the Panels were 400 each (people said they’d get cheaper in the future) But Now i’ve searched everywhere, and Panels are like 800 dollars each. My question is: Is solar Power ever going to be affordable? I’m already having a hard time with loans that I have, so I need to find Panels (maybe a kit?) that I can afford. Doesanybody Know?

short video describing a small solar power system that i set up at my house. it consists of twelve 1 amp solar panels (15 watts each for a total of 180 watts of power – per hour). i use it to run all lights (CFL’s), fans, tv’s, and stereos in the house. also the microwave, coffee maker, blender, can opener, sandwich grill, toaster, vacuum, computer and anything else i can think of. run time for lights/fans only is approx 8 hours. add in vacuuming, microwaving or toaster along with lights, tv and the fans and the run time is reduced to 4-5 hours a day. i bought solar panels, inverter (1000 watt) and killowatt meter at Harbor Freight tools, the batteries (deep cycle) from walmart and the battery cables from checker auto. total cost was about 00 to 00
I am looking to put a solar powered ceiling fan in a summer cottage. Is it possible to just buy a specific fan that comes with a kit or do I need to hook it up to a panel? Any information would be helpful thanks!
Thanks to people for suggestions of where to buy fans that run on solar power, now what sort of panal would you need to get to run a fan like this?
