I had my solar panel set up for a couple months now and just started to monitor the power output. Right now I have a 90 watt harbor freight kit, and 2 80 watt mono and 2 80 watt poly panels. All are wired in parallel so it should add to about 410 watts at around 20 volts right? I know voltage drop for battery bank after charge controller. So it converts it down to 13 volts. I have an amp meter wired in series before the charge controller and at peek time I only see it reach 14 amp. 14 x 13 volts is 182 watts I am only getting out of the panels. So I cam losing almost 60% of my potential power output from the panels!!!! Why is that? I thought that the amps do not change only the voltage drop for the batteries, so my meter should read almost 20 amps. Which would be 20 x 13 volts = 260 watts output from panels. That is only around 40% of power loss. I am so confused and not happy with the results I am reading here with the amount of money I spent for all of this. Thanks for every ones time and help.
i would like to construct 4x 12VDC computer fans under my roof vent. These would be wired in parallel to a 12V solar panel (Wattage depending on size of fans). I know this would only work during the day, but that’s really all I need. My question is, would this make a difference in the temp in the attic or am I wasting my time. Really, I don’t want to spend 0 of a pre-made kit and have to replace the vent.
I have a question please help! I just bought the complete 45 watt solar kit from harbor Freight http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta…emnumber=90599
plus also I got an inverter http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta…emnumber=66817 .
Can I add more solar panel let say up to 200 watt and adding two 12 volts battery using the same charges controller and power inverter?
this kit gives you step by step instructions on how to build and install your solar panel

Exactly How much power will this kit produce? for example. Will it only be able to power the 2 light throughout an entire day or would it be able to power a couple TV’s with a couple lights. Or a Refrigerator? washer dryer? I’m just wondering exactly what it will be able to do and if it’s worth paying 0 for if it’ll only power two lights. Don’t get me wrong, That’s great and will make a difference but i’m looking for something that will make a little bit of a bigger difference. Would the 80 watt monocrystalline solar panel be much better? if so, what would it be able to power? double?
