Hi, We have a cabin which is approx. 1,000 sq ft with approx. 500 sq ft of workable roof space (according to astrum) The system we could able to get would produce approx. 5-6 kw of energy for our home. Does this estimate sound accurate? I don’t really have an issue because i realize it is just an estimate – But i can’t afford this amount of money for a solar system. Does anyone have information about companies the will lease solar panel systems in Pennsylvania? Or maybe some information on DIY solar panel kits? Actually any information on how a may be able to afford solar power would be very helpful. Thank you in advance!

Is there any place in the IL area like craft stores or anything that would have kits on how to make working windmill or solar panel things.

I have been asking for bids locally for a retrofit on an existing gate. Needs to be solar powered with magnetic sensors. Low bid is 00. I believe this bid to be too high and with the help of you would like to make this project more affordible.

This includes:

1 Apollo 7100 ETL slide gate operator
2 Exit sensor 50 ft. — magnatic sensor for car or bike. non security access
1 10 watt solar panel
1 SG-4 solar controller — to prevent overcharge
1 concrete pad for gate opener and 1 1/2 su. tube 15" gate extension

Assuming I have ability to pour own concrete and access to welding equipment, I am looking for options to purchase similar equipment to do instillation myself. What are the advantages of the retrofit compared to a swinging gate which may be cheaper? Can anyone assist me in buying the parts or similar equipment by leading to websites, distributors, etc.? I just got my first solar-panel starter kit, and I want to use it for my light, so I have to have a battery for it.
The panels are 12 volt, 65 watt.
What kind of battery/batteries, and how many lights can I have on it?
My mistake, it is 60 watt, not 65, and there are 4 panels, I do not know if they are 60 what each, or total.
IGNORE EVERYTHING BEFORE THIS…..
Ok. here are the facts.
4 15 watt solar panels, for a total of 60 watts.
1 200 watt inverter.
1 regulator/controller
I also have 1 75 watt inverter, and 1 800 watt inverter that did not come with the kit.
The only things on them will be lights, and 1 outlet when the power is out, the outlet will be on the main line when we do have power, the lights will be on solar all the time.
What kind of batteries can I use, and how many lights can I have on it?

I am also open to ideas on how to hook everything up. I think I know how to do it, but others have already done this sort of stuff, so it would be smart to get ideas from them.

Im looking at making a solar power system to power my portable devices. I am looking at making my own kit. I know I need a solar panel, a 12v battery, and a power inverter.
Does can the solar panel have a wattage rating of more or less than the inverter and do I need a device to manage the battery’s charge.
I also plan on using it to power some larger devices such as a small non-portable tv.

I’ve been doing a lot of experimenting with renewable energy lately, mostly with the kits you buy online for solar-powered cars and whatnot. My question is: how can you convert the electricity coming from the solar panel (positive and negative wires) into a standard household 120V AC current? Preferably DIY, but I’m open to buying some equipment, as long as it’s not expensive.

I want to use one/two deep cycle batteries for a power source when camping, emergencies, etc. I would like to use a solar panel with a trickle charge to have them 100% til needed. Anyone have knowledge of a kit, plans for just a good solar charger? I’d prefer to have one that i could screw and bolt to the battery terminals vs. the typical "clamps".
