What is your opinion about ‘Steel kit homes’ versus already built properties? EG..Electricity and plumbing..also we would have solar panels and water tanks as we live in a hot,tropical environment and would have advanced well-placed trees for insulation.We have to buy the land then build upon it….What do you all see as the pros and cons of this? Thank you.(I know there are plenty of cons..telephone,council approval,site,soil etc..but still wondering..is it really cheaper or worth the trouble..we are used to living rough .)

I’ve been doing a lot of experimenting with renewable energy lately, mostly with the kits you buy online for solar-powered cars and whatnot. My question is: how can you convert the electricity coming from the solar panel (positive and negative wires) into a standard household 120V AC current? Preferably DIY, but I’m open to buying some equipment, as long as it’s not expensive.

I want to extend my WiFi so I can sit at my pond and surf the net while fishing, However its around a corner and below a hill. SO I was thinking of having a repeater connected to two cantennas. I have a car 12 volt Solar Panel, it has an LED light that pulses when it sends electricity to the car cigarette lighter. It can be found at harbor frei&ht. I also have some 12 volt batteries that go into backup UPS. Any Ideas how I would hook up the repeater to the batteries, and convert the 12 volts to the needed 5? The repeater would need one amp. I can solder and have a very basic understanding of electronics. I’d love a kit or something. I would put the repeater and the batteries in some sort of container to protect from rain. Anyways, thanks ahead.
I have some old pc power supplies, I wonder if I can strip what I need from them since, they have 3, 5 and 12 volt dc out. hmm.. Thanks

What else is needed to get electricity from the solar panels into a home?? How does this work?

I get a lot of sun and would be great to lower my HUGE summer electric bill. Lots of Sun = Lots of Heat = A/C all of the time = $$$$.

I would love to be able to produce electricity for my home in a safe and clean manner, for the sake of the environment AND for my rather challenged finances, but I really haven’t got thousands to invest in the project.

I found this kit online, which seems to offer what I need for a VERY low price…. needless to say I’m suspicious.

So, anyone with knowledge of these things…. can you tell me if this just nonsense/a con, or does it look like a decent way forward for me?
