Solar power is the generation of electricity from sunlight. That is exactly what I needed. So I looked for a solar power kit that was affordable and seemed easy enough to set up. I decided to go for the Sunforce 50044 60-Watt Solar Charging Kit from Amazon and bought it some months ago.
I considered a couple of other models where I could get more power but naturally they where also more expensive. I decided to start with the #50044 and then upgrade to another kit later.
I live in an area with lot of sun and I knew it would have the potential to work. I have it plugged into 3 large batteries, and I also have an inverter connected to those. I keep the inverter in the house, and the batteries are outside. The wire goes through the wall. We plug things into the inverter.
The whole kit was simple to put together. If you don’t already have the batteries, you have to buy them separately.
So, how much power do I get with this kit? My laptop runs all day, and I also manage to recharge the cell phones. My wife can also run her laptop and if we don’t run them all day long there is no problem at all. I’ve had to switch to grid power a couple of times if I’ve used my laptop all day, but I’ve never had to switch over if I’ve only used it during the evening.
This might not be the most efficient solar panel set, but it’s certainly very good for starting out and learning about solar power. It’s inexpensive enough to set up and charge all your rechargeable stuff whenever you need it, as long as you live in a fairly sunny area. It is easy to expand this system to a larger and more efficient one if you see that you need more power.
I do save some money every month with the Sunforce 50044 kit but the most important thing for me is to have the freedom and be able to get electricity everywhere without looking for the grid.
I have to say that I am happy with my first solar panel kit. I have never had any problems what-so-ever. I am not a techie and have no idea how the thing actually works. The most important for me was to get something that was easy to install and produced the electricity that I needed. The Sunforce 50044 did exactly that.
