solar energy activity for kids?

I need a project to do with this kit that I got. It comes with a little solar panel, and a battery thingy. What can I do to make something work with the energy I harness? Or what else can I buy ( that’s not a million bucks!!!) to make something work?

  1. try to buy a small motor and make a boat using recycled materials. we have an activity in our class about boat with solar power. we even made it a race to be more exciting. that is just my opinion, you can find more.

You may like to try powering an electric train set. If they are young kids it may be nice to have a thomas the tank setup

I can’t picture your kit; would it work to attach the battery to a sheet of aluminum foil ?
afterwards, eat the egg . Good work deserves a tasty reward, right ?
whatever you do, be sure to take photos. Good luck, it sounds like fun !

Most malls sell solar powered accent lights. You can get four for USD 50 (Eight in a sale).
If you already have a kit you can buy a bright LED from any hobby shop and just put it across the battery terminals for it to glow. Being a diode, it works only if the terminals are properly connected. Otherwise a wheat germ bulb will work. This work whichever way it is connected. Being a tungsten lamp it will drain the battery fast.
